What is a universal socket?
A socket designed to take several plug types — round-pin, flat-pin and three-pin — in one outlet. It is convenient for mixed appliances, but heavy loads such as an AC should use a dedicated socket rated for that load.
What kind of socket does an AC need?
Use a 15/16 A power socket on its own circuit, not a standard 5/6 A socket, and a switch rated for the same current. Many installers prefer to hard-wire the AC through a 20 A double-pole AC switch instead of a socket, which is the neater option. Your electrician will match the socket or switch, cable and breaker to your AC's rating.
Which switch and socket brand is best in Pakistan?
It depends on budget and finish.
